Thanks to the recommendation of a good friend I began taking Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University Class. Many people probably wonder how I have time to take another class and why I would choose a finance class when I have so little income. To put it simply, I'm making time for what I believe is important and I'm planning ahead. This class has not added stress to my life, but rather given me hope and excitement for the future. I am learning how to manage money now so that I can form habits that will impact my life even more when I am working full time. I would recommend this class to EVERYONE and I recommend you take it as early as possible! It is exciting for me to see how being responsible with the money I have now will lead to even greater things later in life! On the other hand, it is really sad to see so many older adults in the class who are deep in debt and just now learning how to manage money. I have already started Dave Ramsey's plan by making a partial budget, (A complete budget is difficult because my salary varies monthly and my parents still support me in many ways.) creating an emergency fund, and spending more wisely.
I have also decided to take a look back at Randy Pausch's Time Management lecture. One of my favorite parts of the lecture is the four quadrant to do list from Stephen Covey's book "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People." If you don't watch the entire video definitely skip to about the 25 minute mark and watch!!
